Fitbit Instructions Update

I recommend using a Garmin watch, not a Fitbit, but a few people have been in touch recently about trying the Fitbit app on their Versa or Versa 2 devices.

I have updated the app so it should work on a Versa 2, but noticed that on my Android 9 phone, it does not work at all. I traced this to a bug in the Fitbit android app, which is expected to be fixed in a forthcoming update. In the meantime I have updated the Fitbit installation instructions to include a workaround (installing an old version of the Fitbit app.


Note that I think we still have the connection reliability issues with Fitbit, so I still think Garmin is the best option (I rather like my Vivoactive 3!).

Does the Pebble Version Still Work?

A couple of people have been in touch this week asking abut the Pebble version of OpenSeizureDetector. It seems that it does not work on more recent Android versions (the watch app will not install). I have a phone that uses Android V5.1 that works, and a user reports it working on V6.0, but my Android 9.0 phone does not.

If you are using a Pebble still, please let me know which version of Android it is working on (graham@openseizuredetector.org.uk).

I don’t have time to try to work out what is wrong to see if it is fixable, and I really want to put my effort into getting a database of user data working to try to improve the detection algorithm, so I am thinking of removing references to Pebble in the documentation – I’d welcome users’ thoughts on this too.

Update to Garmin Instructions

I have had a few queries lately about installing the Garmin seizure detector so I have had a go at updating the instructions.
I have added a table showing which watches we know the system works on – if you are using it on a watch that is not included here, please let me know so I can add it to the table.
