Over the past week, two users have reported that they have seen the heart rate reading stops updating and freezes on an old value after several hours. All the reports have been on Garmin VenuSQ watches. See the discussion here: https://github.com/OpenSeizureDetector/Garmin_SD/issues/22. After wearing the watch for three nights, I have managed to reproduce the issue on my VenuSQ watch too.
I do not know why this is happening so do not have an immediate solution. I found that shutting down the watch app and re-starting it solved the problem.
The main concern is that the user will not know that the issue has occurred unless they observe the heart rate value themselves, as no fault alarm will be generated. I propose to make an update to the Android app to generate fault pip sounds if the heart rate does not change for more than a specified time to provide us with a work around for now.
If you see this issue on your device, please report any information on which device you are using, and how you re-set it to get it working again – either by commenting on the issue here: https://github.com/OpenSeizureDetector/Garmin_SD/issues/22, or emailing graham@openseizuredetector.org.uk and I will update the issue in the bug tracker.
Thanks, Graham.
